My Garden

Welcome to my garden blog; we have lived in this house for 32 years and the garden was virtually bare when we moved in. I think we had 2 Queen Elizabeth roses and some Rhubarb!
The small front garden however had 9 huge clumps of orange Mombresia around the lawn's edge.
We garden on heavy clay which is challenging but over the years we've worked out what works and what doesn't.
The garden has been a playground for our three children over the years and we are not precious about it but we do know what we like.
I hope you enjoy following it through the year.

May ~ Fruits Forming

Various fruits are now forming on the trees and bushes

A tiny Bramley Apple with a bit of blossom hanging on still

Baby Bramley Apple

We know we should pinch these off and not let the tree fruit in its first year here but we have two which have set fruits so may leave them to see what happens.
The tree is growing vigorously and well settled.

Blueberry fruits

I wonder if these will continue to grow and ripen
~ they seem so vulnerable somehow~

Medlar fruits growing well

It looks like we're going to have a bumper crop this year
~Loads of Medlar Jelly and Chutney~

This one still has some blossom attached

Garden Birds ~ Robin in May feeding a family

While we had our breakfast one of the Robins came for his family's worms.

May 15th

Here he is under the Choisya surrounded by Campanula.

We have to put worms here as the Starlings are more nervous but will try though they are less inclined to come while were are in the garden.
The Bluetits will visit here and Blackbirds, if we are lucky, so a nice collection.

Here is a little 5 minute video of today's visits to the bowl while we had our lunch.
